Titeknots has hit the ground running in 2023, setting the wheels in motion for an album release in the first half of the year. The new remix of ‘Physical Stamina’ originally recorded under his Hint alias 10 years ago, has gone down a storm, with plenty of radio and DJ support. After teaming up with Tru Thoughts once again to revisit those older projects, Titeknots is ready to keep the new material coming on his own label.

The first fresh Titeknots material for the year is this single, showcasing the various styles that show why Titeknots project is celebrated by those that know.

“Stand Home Waiting” is a melodic House track with weighty bass and rhythmic staccato chops. It’s a textbook roller - an irresistible groove running its course, with no need for big drops or buildups. The signature layering that has become the Titeknots calling card is in full effect, swirling around the arrangement and throwing up subtle but significant delights for the ears.

“Brushed Away” is a new entry in the more Downtempo files in the Titeknots catalogue. Polyrhythmic multilayered keyboard parts are joined by crisp drums and a booming bassline. Drawing on his love of Hip Hop production and Soul composition, Titeknots layers himself playing keys, bass, guitar and even recorder to create a tightly packed, slinky treat.

With a music career approaching 20 years, Jonathan James has seen support throughout all corners of the specialist and independent music world. With his first release under the name Hint resulting in an invite to do a Peel Session in 2002, he hasn't stopped since. A constant desire to explore and experiment has resulted in a varied catalogue of moods and styles. His music has been hype enough to get rewinds in Plastic People, but has also been played in uniquely intimate scenarios - soundtracking the birth of a first child, or a walk down the aisle.

Previous releases have collected multiple plays on BBC Radio One and Radio 6Music as well as tastemaker outlets like Rinse FM, NTS, KCRW and Balamii. He has released on Ninja Tune, Tru Thoughts, Sony, Wah Wah 45s and Boogie Angst.
