about

Titeknots is back with another dose of widescreen warmers, just in time for the Summer season.

Continuing to find a delicate balance between layered musicality and functional, physical dancefloor production, the Sign Your Name EP sees Titeknots delving further into the territory that lies between cut and paste Hip Hop and House. It’s a style that continues to win him fans amongst some of music’s finest.

DJs across the spectrum have shown love – from Monki and Phil Taggart on Radio 1 to club favourites like Shadow Child, Bondax, Bonobo, Mano Le Tough, Tom Trago and Jody Wisternoff. Titeknots productions are equally at home at an afternoon pool party or pulsing through big club crowds at peak time.

“Sign Your Name” is a natural successor to last year’s hit “Buzzard Walk”. Multiple melodies float in and out of the dense arrangement, with the lightness of the charming top end sitting pretty above deep bass and driving classic House drums.

“Dancers Really Up” comes next. Dropping the tempo and heaping on the percussion, this track is a steady builder for the more adventurous dancefloors. The stripped down first half opens out into a lush finale.

“Don’t Be Surprised” brings things back up a notch. The deep bass returns, topped off with a spine tingling piano refrain that sounds like it was recorded in a silent movie theatre.

“Sign Your Name” (Murder He Wrote Remix) rounds off the package. Returning the remix favour after Titeknots reworked his own track “Still Crooked”, Murder He Wrote shows us why he’s getting so many props in the bass music and resurgent UK Funky scenes. Here he delivers a true roller, toughening up the original and taking things into rougher territory.

Previous Titeknots releases found their way onto the airwaves thanks to Monki & Phil Taggart (BBC Radio One), Gilles Peterson and Lauren Laverne (BBC 6 Music) and Jamz Supernova (1Xtra).

Key DJ support came from Todd Edwards, Bondax, Nick Catchdubs, Bonobo, Lefto and many more.
